Guardian Element Monitoring System

Monitor your hot water.
Plan the response.

Remote monitoring for commercial hot water systems.

Developed by E2M, G.E.M.S monitors heating elements, temperature and electrical performance. It gives our engineers the information to identify faults, investigate remotely and plan the work needed.

01 / OBSERVE

See the heating cycle in context.

G.E.M.S records the demand for heat alongside electrical load and temperature, so the engineer can compare what the system is being asked to do with its actual response.

The message that matters

Fault information,
sent to your team.

The alert explains what needs investigating.

The original brochure shows an element-failure email: the thermostat is calling for heat, but no current or power draw is present. That gives the maintenance team a specific issue to investigate.

System monitoring
and fault reporting.

Review the readings, investigate the fault
and arrange the appropriate work.

See how the system operates

Monitor the usage and operating state of elements, thermostats and thermal cutouts, with temperature sensing where included in the installation.

Identify issues earlier

Failure notifications can help bring a developing issue to attention, giving your team and E2M more information before arranging the response.

Make maintenance more informed

Use operating information to support investigation, planned attendance and the coordination of appropriate remedial work.

Explore avoidable waste

Understand unusual operating patterns and discuss whether an underlying fault or unnecessary running time needs investigation.

From the G.E.M.S brochure

More detail
for fault diagnosis.

The diagnostic view records operating cycles, runtime, demand and electrical behaviour. Our engineers can review these patterns alongside element and thermostat states when investigating a problem.

  • Heating element, thermostat and thermal cut-out state monitoring
  • Temperature, current, voltage and power information where included
  • Operating history to support remote fault investigation
  • Failure alerts to the agreed contacts

Monitoring alongside existing controls.

G.E.M.S is a monitoring and diagnostic system. Existing thermostats and thermal cut-outs remain the primary safety controls. The heating system’s local operation remains independent of the monitoring connection.

A connected service

From installation
to ongoing support.

01

Review your system

We discuss your hot water equipment, operating demands, monitoring requirements and connection arrangements.

02

Agree the installation

E2M agrees the monitored components, available readings, notification arrangements and access for your site.

03

Use the information

Your team and E2M can use the available status and notifications to investigate issues and plan appropriate work.

Monitoring supports your maintenance arrangements. It does not replace servicing, safety devices, statutory checks or your water-safety programme.

The value of acting earlier

Estimate the cost
of unnecessary running.

Savings start with finding an avoidable cost.
Use your own assumptions to explore an example.

Illustrative energy example

What could avoidable running time cost?

If monitoring helps an engineer identify unnecessary heating operation, corrective work may reduce that waste. Adjust the inputs below.

Illustrative annual energy opportunity£274

1,095 kWh per year

3 kW × 1 h × 365 days × £0.250/kWh

An example calculation, not a measured G.E.M.S result or savings guarantee. Monitoring alone does not reduce consumption: an identified issue and appropriate corrective action are required. Figures exclude VAT, installation, connectivity, subscriptions, maintenance and remedial costs. Operating changes must preserve the required hot water temperatures and water-safety arrangements.

Illustrative example / maintenance

£300 in avoided premiums

Two emergency attendance premiums at an assumed £150 each would total £300. Earlier diagnosis may allow planned attendance; the repair itself may still be required.

Illustrative example / disruption

£500 of contribution at risk

Two hours of interrupted trading at an assumed £250 contribution per hour would put £500 at risk. Actual operational impact depends on the business and the fault.

These are separate hypothetical scenarios. They are not client outcomes and should not be added together as a return-on-investment forecast.
